My summer solo trip overnight was Stonehenge Memorial this year. Columbia Gorge Washington side.
As much as I love and often long to do night photography it also intimidates me; fortunately for this trip, I found some other very nice stargazers to hang out with.
I was not disapointed at all. It was challenging finding focus in the dark. That is one of my biggest technical challenges. Sometimes I find focus and then lose it and have a hard time to recover focus again. In this case, I did find some lights to re-focus with, but I did not know until I loaded the images onto the computer if it had worked or not.
Besides the techincal aspects to this; it was wonderful–looking up at so many stars. Living near the city; often this view is washed out with light pollution.
I find the sky and the stars so magical. I have also been wanting to revisit Stonehenge Memorial for sunset/night. It has been on my bucket list for a few years. I want to do it again. 🙂
